ABOUT US
Why PALANU?

Palanu is more than just a name, it carries deep personal and cultural meaning. Our business is proudly named in honour of one of our Director’s late brothers, Palanu. He was a man of quiet strength, unwavering resilience, and deep integrity, qualities that are reflected in the way we run our business.
At Palanu we approach our work with a commitment to reliability, hard work, and purpose.
Our name inspires our team to go beyond what’s expected and deliver lasting, practical infrastructure solutions that make a difference. The word 'Palanu' also means “moon", this powerful image speaks to reflection, calm, and connection, echoing our deep respect for the land, our community, and the culture that grounds us. We carry our name with pride and purpose.

Our Story
Palanu was born from a deep sense of purpose, pride, and connection to culture.
Founded by Kaelun Brown a proud Gunditjmara, Yorta Yorta, Wiradjuri and Wurundjeri man, the company was created in honour of his late brother, Palanu, a man known for his strength, unwavering resilience, and deep integrity. The name of our business is a tribute to him and the legacy he left behind; to lead with heart, to honour our roots, and to always uplift mob through meaningful work and connection to Country. That spirit lives on in everything we do.

Palanu is more than just an infrastructure company, it’s a platform for creating opportunities, especially for First Nations people. We believe that when our people are empowered with skills, employment, and leadership roles, entire communities thrive. That’s why we actively invest in First Nations talent on the ground, creating real opportunities for First Nations workers across our job sites, with a strong focus on training, mentoring, and career growth in the industry.
Our journey has been fuelled by passion and inspired by culture. Every structure we build and every site we step onto is guided by respect for Country and the stories it holds. We’re not just building for today, we’re building for future generations.

We are proud to support the Willan Foundation, which offers pre-employment training and support to First Nations individuals, encouraging them to pursue meaningful careers in the construction industry.
Looking ahead, our goals are bold, to grow as a leading First Nations construction company, expand our footprint across the country, and continue delivering projects that reflect our culture, values, and commitment to excellence. But at the heart of it all, we remain the same: a family-driven business, walking proudly in honour of Palanu, and building a legacy that lasts.
Cultural inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. As a First Nations-owned business, we are committed to fostering a workplace that respects, values, and amplifies First Nations perspectives. We believe that true inclusion goes beyond employment, it requires active engagement, education, and meaningful collaboration with Traditional Owners and Indigenous communities.

We honour the Country on which we operate, recognising the Traditional Custodians and respecting the enduring connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the land. Our projects are shaped by the understanding that we see every construction site as more than just a place to build, but as part of a living story that deserves care, respect, and protection.
